Ok so it’s no secret, we love the Adidas Boost range.
In fact they are fast taking over the shoe rack and even have prime position in the race day kit.
The latest addition to the collection is the Adidas PureBOOST X and after a good two weeks in here’s the down low.
What we love about them….
Initially the sock-like upper takes a little getting used to; the arch was a bit confused at first. On the third or fourth run you become accustom to that snug arch support and being able to feel the breeze under foot is quite a surreal sensation – love it.
The standout is the power behind each stride which is even more noticeable with the 9 mm differential from toe to heel. You literally want to take off each time your foot hits the ground.
The full textile upper is a dream to run in. Your foot has all this freedom to extend out into toe area with no risk of rubbing or blisters. And oh the weight…or lack thereof…. coming in at a measly 184g, well enough said.
What we’d change about them….
We can’t really fault this shoe, but if we were to be really fussy the back seems a tad too high; not a deal breaker though. Also we’re used to having an extra lace hole at the ankle for secure lacing which isn’t an option here, though we find this is sorted by the tight fitting opening at the ankle, so maybe this is simply a really clever evolution.
The final word….
Would we buy these again? Definitely. The bottom line is these are a performance shoe so we’re not about to wear them on the next ultra marathon but that’s what we love about them. The minimal weight of the woven sock matched with the super bouncy cushioned sole make these a fantastic training shoe and at RRP $160 they are a very attractive option.
